The adventure begins on all caving tours with a hike up a rugged mountain trail to the cave entrance. The hike is 20-30 minutes through pine forest to a canyon leading to the cave entrance. Once in the cave your knowledgeable guide will take you on a natural history tour of the exciting underground world of Grotto Mountain and Rat's Nest Cave. This 4 km long limestone tunnel was created by massive volumes of melt water from extinct glaciers. Rat's Nest cave has been etched and sculptured over hundreds of thousands of years creating twisting passages and chambers of stalactites & stalagmites, animal bones and fossils. All tours finish with a venture down to the tranquil pool in the grotto.
